「アニミズム」「時空」「ポスト・コンテンポラリー」を軸に、
近代以前の日本美術における精神性に深く根差しながら、
絵画、映像を中心に、未来志向の作品制作を行っている。
「奇想の後胤」として、日本美術に見られる遊び心を現代風に解釈し、どこか柔和で心休まるしっとりとした優しい作風、動植物への観察眼や学際的な視野などで磨き抜かれた独特の世界観が特徴。
2024年にはNYでのグループ展示に参加、マレーシア在住のミュージシャンとの仕事など国内以外の領域でも活動している。
共感覚(synesthesia)の持ち主で、短編アニメーションは自身で音楽も制作することが多い。
セルの上に描く絵画性の高い、コマ撮りの切り絵アニメーション
技術を使用することができる数少ない現役作家でもある。
はじめて作った短編アニメーションが、シカゴ国際児童映画祭に入選し、米国のワシントン・ナショナル・ギャラリーなど含めて上映されるなど国外から評価を受けることが少なくない。2024年にはNYでのグループ展示に参加、マレーシア在住のミュージシャンとの仕事など国内以外の領域でも活動している。9

SHUZO HIROYASU / M.HIROYASU
Shuzo HIroyasu is a Japanese artist whose practice centers on the themes of animism, spacetime, and the post-contemporary.
Deeply rooted in the spiritual dimensions of pre-modern Japanese art, he creates forward-looking works primarily in painting and video.As a “descendant of the eccentric imagination” (kiso no kōin), he reinterprets the playful spirit characteristic of Japanese art in a contemporary context.
His distinctive style is marked by a gentle, soothing softness that feels comforting and serene,combined with a sharp observational eye toward flora and fauna and an interdisciplinary perspective that refines a uniquely polished worldview.
In 2024, he participated in a group exhibition in New York and has continued to expand his activities beyond Japan, including collaborations with a Malaysia-based musician.
He is one of the few active contemporary artists capable of producing highly painterly stop-motion cut-out animation using traditional cel techniques.As a synesthete, he frequently composes the music for his short animations.
His first short animation, created in 2009, was selected for the Chicago International Children's Film Festival and screened at prestigious venues including the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., among others, earning consistent international recognition.
Born in Tokyo, he spent his middle and high school years in San Francisco.

He studied piano under a German teacher at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

2025.2.1 作曲家・ピアニストFebian Reza Paneさんのアルバム「Field of Eternity」(2025/1/31発売）ジャケット制作させていただきました。I have worked for Febian Reza Pane-san, one of the top pianists in Japanese music scene, for his new album "Field of Eternity".
2025.1.23 サキソフォン奏者 木村佳代子さん AARONS LLC （金沢を拠点にライブ演奏、モダン郷土民謡、陶芸作品などを扱う企業）のロゴをデザインさせていただきました。アーモンドの木から芽が出て、蕾から花が咲いて実がなるといった生様、無限に続く命の循環などを描いています。I have worked logo design for one of my old and best friend, Kayoko Kimura-san, Saxphone player, for her new company.
